1. System Requirements

Operating System
  • Client Operating Systems: Windows 7 or later.
  • Server Operating Systems: Windows Server 2008 R2 or later.

PowerShell

PowerShell version 4.0 or higher.
Windows 10, Windows server 2012 R2 & later operating systems are already having the required PowerShell version by default.

.NET Framework

.NET Framework version 4.5.2 or higher.

Remote Server Management Feature (RSAT)

RSAT: ADDS and LDS tools need to be enabled. (Not required if you are running SCAD on a domain controller)

Enable the RSAT feature in Windows 10 build 1809 or later
  • Open Settings menu by clicking Start > Settings
  • Type ‘Optional feature’ in the search box and select Add an optional feature from the list of search results.

Click Add a Feature and then type ‘active directory’ in the search box. Select the checkbox for RSAT: Active Directory Domain Services and click on Install

Enable the RSAT feature in Windows 10 (prior to build 1809) & Windows 7:

  • Download and install RSAT for Windows 10 or Windows 7 from the Microsoft website.
  • After the installation is complete, click on Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off
  • Expand Remote Server Administration Tools > Role Administration Tools and select the check box AD DS and AD LDS Tools
Enable the RSAT feature in Windows Server 2019, 2016 & 2012: (Required for non-domain controller only)

  • Open Server Manager window
  • In the Server Manager dashboard, click on Add roles and features
  • Select the default options and click Next until you reach the Select features menu option
  • Expand Remote Server Administration Tools > Role Administration Tools and select the check box AD DS and AD LDS Tools
  • Click on Next and complete the installation
